Vice Chancellor's Message

Emergence of ‘Knowledge Society’ is perhaps the most significant development of the 21st century. All levels of education, whether global or local, are bound to respond to this change, with the Higher Education sector being no exception. It rather has an additional responsibility of being a catalyst to the changing dynamics that result in social transformation through knowledge.

Since universities are entrusted with management of this social transformation, it is pertinent that these institutions of higher learning respond through all three of their core functions- teaching, research, and community engagement. The real challenge of higher education in Pakistan is balancing the critical interplay of policy, infrastructure, human capacity development and investment. Perpetuating this cycle of challenges is the concurrent emergence of the ‘Knowledge Economy’.

Private sector institutions like Ziauddin University have not only appreciated but also responded to this change by expanding their knowledge base in various disciplines namely Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Therapy, Biomedical Engineering and Medical Technology.

Realizing the importance of mass media as a means for knowledge and information transmission, Ziauddin University established the Ziauddin College of Media Sciences (ZCOMS). With the advantage of an in-house campus radio, Radio FM 98.2, ZCOMS is all set to make a mark in the field of Media Sciences and Communication. . The overarching aim of ZCOMS remains to produce human capital to fill in the demand for trained media professionals in the country.
