Ziauddin College of Media Sciences held thesis display of their 5th graduating batch on 4th July, 2019. Graduates of all the three majors Advertising, Journalism and Film & Video had put up their work for the external jury and guests.

The display comprised service based applications and ready-to-be launched brands; eye-opening documentaries and short films and well researched presentations by the journalism students which attracted more than a few. It was a proud day for the excited and gleaming final year students showcasing their yearlong hard work. It all paid off when they received compliments from the jury, visitors, faculty and other college students who came to see the Thesis Display.

We had with us the veteran Mirza Mehmood Ahmed a well known cinematographer with his 45 years of experience for our Film Jury, Ms Rafia Haider chief reporter of Associated Press Pakistan with her 20 years of experience in various fields of health, education, development and environment, as our journalism jury and Mr. Aijaz Ahmed with his 15 years of experience in advertising and marketing, as our jury for Communication & Design.

November 23rd & 24^th: Students and faculty of ZCOMS went to Gorak Hills and Sehwan Sharif for an educational field trip. Students saw Sindi culture in completely different light and learned many new things. The trip was enjoyed to the fullest with camping, folk concert and fireworks.  The sun set at Gorak Hills top is one not to be missed and so is the star gazing at night. Much was learnt and valuable experiences and information gathered at Sehwan Sharif at the mausoleum of Lal Shahbaaz Qalandar. All in all, the trip was a perfect combination of fun and learning.

ZCOMS collaborated with EBR (Early Bird Riders) a group of cyclist for beginners, for the Bikeathon event. The event began at 6:30 am and took the route loop 8, beginning from Salt n Pepper, Sea View and ended back at the same spot. EBR is a friendly group who takes maximum precaution for all the riders and ensures fun filled riding experience. Students enjoyed this healthy activity and decided to do it regularly.

As part of recreation activities that go in parallel to academics ZCOMS planned a beach trip to Sandpit on 15^th November, 2018. A perfect day to be on the beach, the new batch of students had a fun filled day interacting with their seniors. Students enjoyed the cool sea accompanied with good music and delicious biryani that added flavors to the trip.

Faizan Haq Voice Artist, Screen Writer, Documentary Filmmaker visited ZCOMS to interact with students about documentary making. He emphasized on how ideas are laid into great concepts and their execution. He shared his valuable experiences as a film maker, documentary producer, creative director and voice artist. His versatile character had the audience intrigued throughout the very informative session.

ZCOMS celebrated ‘Friday Night’ on 6^th November, 2018. The enthusiastic students prepared handmade decorations to give a Halloween look. Good food, music and friends made the event a success.

Blank Spaces – Students club of Ziauddin College of Media Sciences took up the initiative to spread awareness about breast cancer on 18^th October, 2014. Students clad in pink designed and distributed pamphlets informing about the causes, symptoms, risk factors and prevention. For past years the breast cancer awareness has gained momentum, however continued efforts are needed to keep up the fight.

Ali Aleem Geo TV News Anchor met with first year students at Ziauddin College of Media Sciences. He spoke about the importance of knowing oneself to become an RJ and interacting with listeners. He gave some useful tips to the young listeners about engaging audiences. Ali is a modest and humble person, who talked about his mistakes and how he learnt from them a life time lesson.

Kadir Khan conducted Certificate Course for Photography at Ziauddin College of Media Sciences. O levels and A levels students joined the certificate course and had fun time learning photography skills very the dynamic  Kadir Khan popularly followed as Effneck a well-known product & fashion photographer.

The class of Media Psychology put up their final course project, constructing art installation depicting media theories. The course instructor Shahjahan Saleem invited a three member jury to grade the students. The jury commended students for the detailing in the display and having such clarity of concepts.  One of the best installations was ‘Social media the dark world’ by Amna Rind Baloch and ‘Dreadful Compliments’ by Nousherwan Kirmani.
