Faculty Profile

Ali Kazmi Kazmi is a professional theatre actor, director and graduate member of National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA). After graduation, he started working as a faculty member in NAPA and also worked as an Associate in NAPA Repertory Theatre. His notable theater plays as actor are Khamosh Ye Adalat Hai, Hamlet, Khel Jari Hai, Kanjoos, etc. He has also worked in different TV serials such as Eidi Nahee Milegi (Hum TV), Jazeera (Urdu 1), barish main deewar(Geo) etc. Besides being all these, he is also teaching Scriptwriting & Acting in different universities of Karachi.

Course Description

To build an intellectual and aesthetic understanding of the craft and technique of theatre arts (acting). The teaching methodology will be :

  • Theatre exercises and games targeting text and sub-text
  • Voice/Speech/Movement exercises that support and enhance text and give dimension to all three techniques
  • Visualization exercises
  • Active student analysis and commentary in response to reading the plays
  • Active student participation and discussion

Course Contents

To develop the acting skills and to cultivate the creative talent of each actor-student so that he/she is able to create, embody, and play a character from literature integrating vocal, physical, textual, and imaginative resources

By the end of the course students will be putting up a 15 min play which will be show the skills they have learnt during the course.
