Mahera Omer filmmaker and founder of Pakistan Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) visited Ziauddin College of Media Sciences ZCOMS for an interactive session on documentary making and screening of her Documentary ‘The Rebel Optimist’ on Parweeen Rahman. She discussed the problems faced in the making of the documentary and what to precautions to take as a documentary producer.

Just when the summer season was taking its tow, Ziauddin Media Society rolled up its sleeves to organize a beach party for the students on the 19th of August. The excitement in the air soared from the first light of dawn to sunset. The students basked and bathed all day in the sun, sand, and of course sea.
Students from all the departments of Ziauddin University enthusiastically participated and enjoyed to their fullest, taking memories to be cherished for a lifetime. The air was filled with scent of mouth-watering food as everyone grooved on the rhythm created by the DJ. Horses galloped from one end to another as students satisfied their appetite for horse riding. Beach party is never complete without volley ball and the society ensured that the excitement tank does not go empty. Laughs and arguments for were shared during the volley ball matches but it all added flavour to the success of the entire event. To ensure that everything goes well, there were life guards as well to keep everything under control in deep waters.
The event turned out to be a significant platform for all the students of each department as they had an opportunity to socialize with each other and make friends that would last a lifetime. Ziauddin Media Society’s patron Ma’am Fatima HatimAnjary ensured that President FarasKirmani with his executive council and cabinet members especially Ali Merchant, Bilal Ahmed, ShahzadZaka, Hamza Nadir, Neha and Unaiza Masood made all the necessary arrangements to execute an event worth remembering for all the good reasons. The event remained to be the talk of the town for a long time and students expect many more events to come in time to cherish all such memories during their university life.

An exclusive sound designing workshop was held at Ziauddin Media School (Institute of Communication and Media Studies) on 1st June 2016. The workshop was conducted by Masood Alam; Head of Music department and organized by Ms Sadia; Assistant Program Manager, Institute of Communication and Media Studies.
Ziauddin Media School (ICMS) organized the “1st Ziauddin Film Festival at its campus”. This Film Festival was held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Abul Hasan Jafarey Auditorium, Ziauddin University, Clifton campus. The objective of the film festival was to give student filmmakers the opportunity to display and promote their work.
ADIESFUND® was established in 2007 as an initiative to provide financial security to women and to promote and train women entrepreneurs. It aims to integrate the entrepreneurial needs based on the economic and social aspects of the local communities, with respect to greater women participation in the workforce.
Convocation 2017 marked a milestone for ZCOMS as this year its first batch graduated; a proud moment for Ziauddin University. Ziauddin College of Media Sciences was inaugurated in 2013 with the mission to train the young minds to be curious and creative and instill it with a distinct understanding of media and the courage to act on its beliefs. ZCOMS envisions communication and media as the ultimate bridge between endowments and entitlements. ZCOMS 1st batch convocation was an electrifying moment as this was the first batch that had placed the cornerstone for a media department in Ziauddin University being the most senior batch. Bidding farewell is the absolute toughest thing to do because you have to walk away with just a memory and after a while that memory fades. We hope and pray that ZCOMS would bid farewell to more batches year after year for decades to come.
Ziauddin College of Media Sciences held its 2nd Media Society elections with full zeal on 11th April 2017. Ziauddin College of Media Sciences always has a goal of bringing the entire Ziauddin University on one platform. Giving the entire University a privilege to cast their votes in Ziauddin Media elections was like adding another feather to the proud Managements cap. The elections were conducted in a lively manner and all the departments appreciated the efforts of ZCOMS.
ZCOMS students attended a very vibrant session at the US consulate Karachi on 14th March 2017. The session was conducted by a very seasoned media professional. ZCOMS students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of interacting with the US Spokesperson at the US Consulate on “My Role as a Spokesperson Vs the Role of a Responsible Media”. It was wonderful to see ZCOMS students ranging from 1st year to final year confidently raise very meaningful questions to the distinguished speaker. We look forward for a continued engagement of collaboration with the US Consulate for further institutional development.
